Tint film comparison · MarxModified, Wilmington, DE

GeoShield vs Ceramic Pro window tint.

Ceramic Pro is best known for ceramic coatings and sells KAVACA window tint through its dealers. Here’s how it compares to the GeoShield films we install, using each company’s own published numbers.

MarxModified AutoStyling is a GeoShield installer in Wilmington, DE, so read this as our view. We’ve used only figures from Ceramic Pro’s and GeoShield’s own pages, and we’ll flag where Ceramic Pro’s numbers need a second look.

The short answer

  • Headline numbers: Ceramic Pro lists four films with “heat rejection” from 95% (Carbon X) to 99% (Ultimate IR). GeoShield Apex Ultra Ceramic rejects about 95% of infrared in every shade.
  • Read the fine print: on the same Ceramic Pro page, Carbon X is described as blocking 74% of infrared on the film alone while the table says 95%, and Ceramic IR is “up to 97%” in one place and “95% or more” in another. Those aren’t lies, they’re different measurements, but it shows why a single percentage is a weak way to compare films.
  • Construction: both brands’ ceramics are non-metal, so no signal interference either way.
  • Warranty: both lifetime (Ceramic Pro’s is a limited lifetime warranty on all four films).
  • Price: full ceramic tint here is $300 to $450. Get a KAVACA Ceramic IR or Ultimate IR quote and compare.

How to read “heat rejection” claims

  • IR rejection on the film alone, in a narrow band of wavelengths, produces the highest numbers. Many brands’ 95% to 99% claims are this.
  • IRER measures infrared across the whole 780 to 2,500 nanometer range on film plus glass and comes out much lower for the same film.
  • TSER is all solar energy rejected, including visible light, and is the best guide to how a specific shade will feel in your car.

Ceramic Pro’s table uses “heat rejection” without stating which of these it means. GeoShield publishes infrared rejection by shade and a TSER range. When comparing, ask any dealer which measurement their number is.

Where Ceramic Pro is genuinely strong

If you’re already getting a Ceramic Pro coating, their Elite Dealers can do coating, paint protection and tint in one visit under one brand. Ultimate IR’s 99% claim is the highest headline number of any brand on this page, and the films are non-metal with a lifetime warranty.

Why we install GeoShield instead

  • Clear, consistent numbers. Apex Ultra’s infrared rejection is published per shade and lands at about 95% across all of them. You know what every shade does before you buy.
  • A carbon that behaves like carbon. C2 Carbon’s heat rejection is stated honestly: 44% to 77% depending on shade. A carbon film advertised at 95% “heat rejection” deserves the question “measured how?”
  • Thickness. Apex Ultra is a 2 mil dual-layer film, which shapes cleanly on curved rear glass and holds up over the years.
  • Tint is our specialty, not a sideline. Ceramic Pro is a coatings company first. GeoShield makes window film and trains the installers who use it.
  • Price. Full ceramic tint here is $300 to $450 with every price on the site.

Which should you choose?

  • You’re getting a Ceramic Pro coating anyway and want one dealer: KAVACA Ceramic IR or Ultimate IR, and ask which measurement their numbers are.
  • You want published ceramic performance in every shade at a lower price: GeoShield Apex Ultra.
  • You want the look for less: GeoShield C2 Carbon.

GeoShield vs Ceramic Pro FAQ

Is Ceramic Pro KAVACA tint good?

It’s a non-metal ceramic lineup with a limited lifetime warranty and 99% UV, sold through Ceramic Pro dealers. Its published heat numbers are high but don’t say which measurement they use, so ask the dealer for the test method and TSER.

Why does Ceramic Pro’s carbon film claim 95% heat rejection?

Their page lists Carbon X at 95% in a table and 74% film-only infrared blocking in the text. The two figures likely come from different measurements. Carbon films in general reject far less infrared than ceramics.

Is GeoShield Apex Ultra a true ceramic?

Yes. It’s a 2 mil film with two stacked ceramic layers and no metal, rejecting about 95% of infrared heat in every shade.

Do you install Ceramic Pro tint?

No. We install GeoShield only.

How much does GeoShield ceramic tint cost?

$300 to $450 for a full Apex Ultra Ceramic tint at MarxModified, depending on the vehicle. C2 Carbon is $200 to $300.
