Every tint shop in Wilmington calls itself the best. We’re not going to pretend we’re neutral, since this is our website. What we can do is give you the questions we’d ask if we were shopping for tint, answer them honestly for our own shop, and let you ask the same questions anywhere else.
Window tint is a product you live with for ten years. Bad film turns purple and bubbles, bad installs leave gaps, dirt and peeling edges, and a bad warranty means nobody picks up the phone when it does. The shop matters more than the price difference between two quotes.
1. What film do they install, and will they name it?
Ask for the brand and the exact product line. A shop that says “ceramic” without naming the film is often using whatever roll was cheapest that month. You want a named film with a published spec sheet, so you know what you’re paying for.
Our answer: GeoShield C2 Carbon and GeoShield Apex Ultra Ceramic, and nothing else. The specs for both are on our tint guide, and we’ve compared GeoShield to 3M, XPEL, LLumar, Ceramic Pro and STEK so you can see how it stacks up.
2. Do they install dyed film?
Dyed tint is the cheapest film made and it’s behind nearly every purple, bubbling rear window you’ve seen. Some shops offer it as a “basic” option and some use it without saying so. If a quote is far below everyone else’s, this is usually why.
Our answer: No. We won’t put a film on your car that we wouldn’t put on our own. Our entry film is carbon, which holds its color for years.
3. Can you see the prices before you call?
A good shop isn’t hiding its prices. If you have to call for a “starting at” number that changes when you arrive, that’s a sign the price depends on how much they think you’ll pay.
Our answer: Every price is on the site. A full tint on most sedans and SUVs is $250 in carbon or $375 in ceramic, and the full table is here. You can book online with a $50 deposit that comes off the total.
4. Who actually tints your car?
At bigger shops the person who quotes the job and the person who does it are rarely the same, and the installer on your car may have started last month. Tint is a hand skill. The rear window in particular, where the film has to be heat-shaped to the curve of the glass, is where experience shows.
Our answer: MarxModified is owner-run. The owner tints every car, and you can see the results on our customer rides page before you book.
5. What does the warranty actually cover, and who honors it?
“Lifetime warranty” means little if it’s only honored by the shop that sold it and only while they’re in business. Ask what’s covered, whether it’s the manufacturer’s warranty or the shop’s, and whether another dealer would honor it.
Our answer: GeoShield’s lifetime warranty covers discoloration, peeling, bubbling, adhesive failure, cracking, delaminating, oxidation and corrosion, for the original owner. It’s honored by any authorized GeoShield dealer in the country, not just us.
6. Do they know Delaware’s tint law, and will they keep you legal?
Delaware changed its law in 2026: front side windows must now let in at least 50% of light. A shop that quotes you 20% on the front doors without a word about inspection isn’t looking out for you.
Our answer: We tint to the law of the state your car is registered in, whether that’s Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland or New Jersey. Our usual Delaware setup is 50% ceramic up front, and if you choose to go darker and later need to pass inspection, we remove that tint free when you book the reinstall.
7. What do their customers say?
Read the reviews, but read them for specifics. “Great job” tells you little. Reviews that mention the film, the clean edges, the owner by name, or how the shop handled a problem tell you what to expect.
Our answer: Read our Google reviews. We don’t pay for them or trade discounts for them, so what you see is what customers chose to write.
A few smaller things worth asking
- How long until I can roll the windows down? Many shops say 2 to 3 days. We install so you can use your windows right away.
- Do they remove old tint, and do they warn you about defroster lines? We do both.
- Will the film interfere with my phone or GPS? Our films contain no metal, so no.
- Can I see shades on a car first? Try our tint visualizer.

Choosing a tint shop FAQ
How do I know if a tint shop is good?
Ask what film they install by name, whether they use dyed film, who does the work, what the warranty covers and who honors it, and whether they know your state’s tint law. Then read their reviews for specifics.
Why are some tint quotes so much cheaper?
Usually the film. Dyed tint costs a fraction of carbon or ceramic and fades, turns purple and bubbles within a few years. A low quote can also mean an inexperienced installer.
Is ceramic tint worth it in Delaware?
If you want a cooler car, yes. Delaware summers are humid and hot, and a 50% ceramic front window rejects about 95% of infrared heat while staying legal. If you mainly want the look, carbon is a great film at a lower price.
What should a lifetime tint warranty cover?
Color change, peeling, bubbling, adhesive failure, cracking and delaminating. Ask whether it’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which other dealers can honor, or just the shop’s.
How much does a good tint job cost in Wilmington?
At MarxModified a full tint is $200 to $300 in C2 Carbon and $300 to $450 in Apex Ultra Ceramic depending on the vehicle, with every price listed online.
